NeuLion Launches High School IPTV Network Video Portal with National High School Coaches Association
Plainview, NY December 11, 2007 IPTV service provider NeuLion and The National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA), an organization dedicated to providing leadership and support to high schools, announce a new partnership to deliver The National High School Television Network.
In conjunction with Sports Video Group's League Technology Summit in New York City on December 11, this announcement follows NeuLion's successful launch of similar IPTV networks for the National Hockey League, New York Knicks, American Basketball Association and others earlier this year.
Leveraging NeuLion's iPTV platform to broadcast content, The National High School Television Network will offer 18,600 on-demand channels representing each of America's high schools. Each high school has the ability to showcase a variety of activities - sporting events, school productions, special events and news. In addition, there is a library of material ranging from NHSCA events, coaches shows, game archives, highlight videos, player interviews and more.
For nearly 20 years, the NHSCA has been the national high school center of sports that has helped students excel both academically and physically while keeping an eye on their futures. The National High School Television Network will continue this mission by providing an all access look at high schools nationwide while uniting alumni, family and friends anytime, anywhere with the use of NeuLion's iPTV service.
NeuLion's iPTV solution delivers high quality video and live programming over and above user generated content direct to a consumer's web browser. Students, parents and fans will be able to upload content to the service for worldwide viewing. Made possible through sponsorship funding, the service is available free to high schools and free to fans and 100% of the alumni donations will go back to the high schools. "The National High School Television Network is designed to allow high schools to reconnect with their alumni, similar to the way colleges have done for years. The platform will allow schools to upload content about their school activities, sports teams, highlight individual student's talents and produce their own `school television network.' For school districts to develop similar on-line capabilities would be cost-prohibitive, our platform is free to the participating schools," said Robert Ferraro, founder and chief executive officer of the NHSCA.
"High schools will be able to participate in the development and uploading of video content on a national level. The NeuLion iPTV platform can support streaming services to either the PC or the TV. Our first step with the NHSCA will be the computer but later we can extend the service to the television with the same content," said Chris Wagner, executive vice president and co-founder of NeuLion.
The National High School Television Network will be available free to consumers beginning in early 2008 by accessing the NHSCA official website. http://www.nhsca.com/
